TROPIC THUNDER DETHRONES THE DARK KNIGHT

Finally! It took five weekends to dethrone THE DARK KNIGHT at the U.S. Box Office. BEN STILLER and his TROPIC THUNDER made it possible.
Oh and STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS grossed only $ 15 million... reviews are even worse. It's not that I care too much, but it makes me sad to see, how they kill a lovely franchise.
And by "they" I mean GEORGE LUCAS...

    Well, after more than 5 weeks on Number 1 thats no surprise, also the CGI Star Wars isnt such a big surprise for me. At the moment everything Lucas does turns into bullshit... Cant wait to see Tropic Thunder.

    All I read and hear is that the plot of "Clone Wars" is shitty and boring, but what did paople expect? Lucas has never been the best when it comes to an interesting plot. Even the first three Star Wars movies didn't have a great story, but they were new to the people and the effects were really awesome for the late 70's. And what has Lucas been doing since then? Trying to make Industrial Light and Magic even bigger than it was/is.
    And you also have to be aware of the fact that this movie is basically the first three episodes of the upcoming TV-show so it's not supposed to be a blockbuster.
    And to the box-office in general:
    I hope that "The Dark Knight" can beat "Titanic" off its throne of being the best grossing film in USA of all time. I'm really excited to finally see it on Wednesday. I hope it's worth all the fuss of the last weeks...

    when does tropic thunder come out in germany? is it already?
    cant wait to see this one, looks like a great movie
    and, as already said, for me its not a big surprise that tropic thunder kicked batman off the throne after 5 weeks

    LOL! Sorry JimPanse, but may I tell u something about TCW.
    Maybe u didnt notice but that movie isn't like Ice Age, Finging Nemo or the other animation stuff, running at the theaters.

    It's "only" a pilot for the tv show coming that fall on Cartoon Network. So it's not to weird for such kind of me to be not very sucsessfull.

    Just something about the very bad GL: I'm very tired of reading shit like that. GL isn't killing SW with TCW and neighter is someone else. I did see the movie. There were adults and kids in the theater (both times) and they really enjoyed what they had seen. Of course not everyone likes the same. But because u dont like it doesnt mean, no one likes it! I seriously wonder if u have seen the picture urself. The movie is something for fans, thats true. Not fans of course wont enjoy such kind of SW that much as fans will do. And that is the whole point!

    If something would have killed SW, than it would be the Hollyday Special, or even Episode V, because Empire is so very far away from IV in style and atmosphere and stuff. So if that kind of didn't kill a "lovely franchise" u obliviously don't really know, than the Clone Wars also won't.
