Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident in Mississsippi Sunday night.*UPDATE*According to the Associated Press, Freeman was hurt at around 11:30 p.m. outside of Ruleville, Miss., and was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. Police reports say Freeman was heading eastbound on Highway 32 when his car went off the road and flipped several times.
A spokesman for the Regional Medical Center says Freeman is in serious condition. The center where Freeman is being treated is a teaching hospital and medical facility.
There was also a woman passenger in Freeman’s car, but there is no word on her condition.
Freeman, 71, was said to be talking before being taken to the hospital. The Oscar-winning actor, currently co-starring in "The Dark Knight," lives in Mississippi.

Freeman and a female passenger had to be cut free from the wreckage and airlifted to the Regional Medical Center (The Med) in Memphis, Tennessee on Sunday night, after the actor lost control of his vehicle on the highway near his home in Charleston, Mississippi.
The 71-year-old suffered a broken arm and shoulder when he flipped his car over in the crash.
And Freeman's publicist Donna Lee has confirmed The Dark Knight star is making progress and looking forward to returning home.
