SMAC - SHOWS, MOVIES & CHICKS

Two months ago QUENTIN TARANTINO announced that his WWII flick INGLORIOUS BASTARDS will be finished and presented at the FESTIVAL DE CANNES 2009. As most people I took that annoucement with a "yeah... right" smile and didn't bother anymore. I wasn't even hyped.
But I am NOW!
Here is the deal with INGLORIOUS BASTARDS:
Remember the gap of six years between JACKIE BROWN and KILL BILL VOL. 1 ? How long can one of the most gifted writers and directors and probably one of the biggest movie-geeks the world has ever known NOT work on a movie? That's right. He can't. That is why he wrote a script. A script mildly inspired by WWII movies like THE DIRTY DOZEN, THE GREAT ESCAPE or QUEL MALDETTO TRENO BLINDATO. The last one being the original INGLORIOUS BASTARDS from 1977 by director Enzo Castellari, which as we know today, won't have too much in common with QT's movie, well besides the obvious (WWII and the name).

Now you might ask, why did it take SIX YEARS to finish a script. The answer is easy. It didn't take six years, as he never finished the script until now. Rumor has it, that first versions of his script came with not less than 600 pages. PULP FICTION had 122 pages. Go figure...

Now why am I telling you all this. Because it's important to know that BASTARDS had a long way coming and will kick ass. At least that's what HARRY KNOWLES said after he read the script:

"This Film will be the best movie Quentin Tarantino has made yet!"

That's a bold statement. And I don't know if I believe it. But I do!

As for the second news snippet concering Mr. Tarantino:
QT is currently "executive producing" a flick from LARRY BISHOP called HELL RIDE.
Of course"executive producing" means shit, as we all know QT did it with garbage like HOSTEL 1 & 2.

However this one could be more than just a name tag:

Larry Bishop is the dude from KILL BILL VOL. 2 who owns the titty-bar and tells MICHAEL MADSEN he is "as useful as an asshole right here" pointing at his ellbow. One of my favourite lines in that movie.

He wrote and directed HELL RIDE. The aforementioned MICHAEL MADSEN takes the lead accompanied by VINNIE JONES, DAVID CARRADINE and DENNIS HOPPER.

Madsen, Bishop and Tarantino in a GRINDHOUSE-ISH dirty and raw revenge B-Movie?! Count me in!
